Expert Witness: Curtis J. Cope has been called upon to consult and render expert opinions on enforcement matters in Federal and State Courts. He is well versed in knowledge and addresses issues dealing with Standard of Care, Failure to Train, Failure to Supervise, Negligent Retention, Use of Force, Civil Rights and others.

Instructional Development: Curtis J. Cope has developed law enforcement training courses since the early 1980's. Some of his work include classes used at the Basic Officer Academy, Supervisor Academy, S.W.A.T. Academy, Advanced Officer Courses, California POST and California State Corrections. The typical course work will contain active participation by students which allows for enhanced learning. Course work is filled with current issues that are facing law enforcement.

Curtis J. Cope Consulting is an approved Training Provider for the California State Board of Corrections. Mr. Cope is certified as a California POST Master Instructor. He has assisted in the continuing development of the Master Instructor Course since its inception in 1991. He also has assisted in the development of the California POST Institute of Criminal Investigation Instructor Workshop and continues as the program administrator.

Curtis J. Cope Consulting have a variety of instructors who are recognized experts or are California
POST Master Instructors as part of the teaching team. Curtis J. Cope Consulting will assist organizations in developing course material to fit individual department needs. Courses can be hosted by an individual agency or multi-agencies. Ideal class size is 25 students. Classes can be from 8 to 40 hours in length. Methods of instruction are designed using adult learning models and active learning by students.

Trial Preparation: Mr. Cope works with parties involved in litigation. He prepares them for the stress of trial. He provides methods for testifying and presentation.

Consulting: Curtis J. Cope Consulting offers agencies an in-house look at policies and procedures regarding the Use Of Force. This service will look at existing organizational policies and practices to ensure that they meet or exceed State and National Standards. This service can be combined with training sessions.
